Being so pleased with Jon’s previous work, I asked him to transfer my old 8mm cine films to DVD These were mainly of steam trains, family & friends and holidays.

Jon has done a fantastic job for me! As well as transferring many hours of film to DVD, he has also added a soundtrack of music appropriate to the subject of the films. He has transferred each film frame-by-frame and edited them to give a seamless result. Considering most of the films were over 30 years old, l am amazed at the vibrant colours and the clarity of the finished product, a very professional job all round.

Just a quick note to say how pleased I was with the service I received from ‘Film Conversion’. I tried a few shops in my area to no avail and then tried the internet where I came across this company. As I know absolutely silch about anything to do with films (even to the extent of now knowing how to load a film into a camera, thank goodness for the digital age which I welcomed with open arms) I was a bit hesitant in phoning them. A gentleman called John Barr answered and explained very simply in words I could understand, all the ins and outs of converting camcorder films (20 year old ones I hasten to add, found in my attic) into dvds. Ive had video’s from weddings and old camcorder stuff for years gathering dust, people telling me they cant be converted. But found ‘Film Conversions’ on line a while ago, and thought how professional the add looked, so decided to send all my old stuff off to them.
For starters, it was quite nerve wracking sending all my precious memories off in the post, worried they’re never going to be seen again! But i got a phone call when they arrived the other end to say that they had been received safely, which imediately put my mind at rest. Also saying there would be no problem transferring them all and would receive another phone call when done.
literally within a wk i had made the payment, which was very reasonable, the package was back on my door step, securely packaged, beautifully presented dvd’s!!! was sooo excited to play them, that wkend was spent down memory lane with lots of happy tears to boot!

I had over 20 VHS tapes which I needed converting to DVD. All other VHS conversion companies I found in Manchester charged per tape and not for the length of the output. As each of my tapes only had about 30 mins on it would have been very very expensive. Then I found Film Conversions who charge for the length of the output not the number of VHS tapes. This meant instead of costing a couple of hundred pounds it only cost £49.99. The service, the turn-around, the quality of conversion and the presentation of the DVDs was far higher than I had expected. Thank you Jon – you over delivered (which is why Im taking the time to write this). Thanks again.

Have just had several cinefilms converted to DVD and have been extremely impressed with the quality and presentation of the DVD’s. It has been fascinating to see myself sitting in my pram as a child 64 years ago!, plus playing with a wooden spoon digging in the sand at Silverdale. The films were taken by my father who is now 98 years of age and although he was a little upset to see his wife who died two years ago and all their friends who have also passed away, he was amazed at the quality of the DVD’s.

I always knew my mother had taken a lot of 16mm cine film in the 1950s and after a family party was prompted to search for it. The Bell Howell projector didn’t work so I sent it to Jon Barr. He gave me a blow by blow account of what was there which of course I remembered after 55 years. Jon transferred the material to DVD and it looks better than the original. My family had been meaning to convert our old cinefilm to dvd for years but never got round to it. However, after my dad passed away last year it was more important than ever to convert them. I decided to get it all done for my mum’s birthday and John was great at putting it through as a rush job and even went out of his way to deliver the dvd’s personally before my mum went home back to Brussels.

First contacted Jon a few days before to establish location of shop and of the services I was seeking. Nothing was too much trouble for Jon and I eventually met with him on Friday 2nd March with 3 video’s for transfer to disc. They were ready the following day for collection. I sent off a shoe box full of VHS videos taken when our youngest now 21 was a baby. The videos where not in great shape some even split with tape missing! Too precious to discard though and Jon and his team returned them to us on DVDs with the subject matter beautifully illustrated on the covers!

This was a 27 year old VHS tape, filmed with a camera almost as big as my car!. Sent it in with some pictures, it was of my sons school playng on the old Wembly pitch, in 1983. In those days video was very new so the quality was not expected to be good, However ‘Showtime’
got great results, tidied up, added music and titles packaged with care and making a great keepsake for the team and the school. Please use this company and you will not be dissapointed. Trust them with your precious memories.

Recently ordered 6 (ish) hours of film to be copied to DVD from MiniDV. Having shopped around a bit I found Jon to be the only person I felt was fully able to do it. I have previously had cine converted to DVD but the final product was not as proffesional nor as good as the work done by Jon. Some of my cine was 40 year old, yet it views on DVD like new.

We have had some rather old 16mm Cine film tucked away in our attic for many years and wondered if it was at all possible to view our family history that we once watched over 50 years ago. We found Jon, not only was he passionate but he was very knowledgeable in the technical side of the transfer of our film.

I was rather concerned about posting off my treasured films from over 20 years ago into the unknown for fear of losing them so I decided to ring Film Conversions before doing so.
